The long association between the Stjordal river system and British salmon anglers dates back to the late 1850`s when Sir Hide Parker first leased the fishing rights in Stjordal , including The Overkil Beat. Sir Henry Pottinger continued this tradition and much has been written about the especially superb fly fishing potential.

One of the greatest advantages fishing the Overkil water is the possibilities to practise excellent fishing under different conditions and water level.

Due to cold water during the first couple of weeks in June many choose bringing their spinning gear . Spinning might be practised by some later in the season. Flyfishing is definitely the method being preferred , though.

The Overkil beat takes up to 4 rods. Very well suitable for friends and families.

The beat has 4 very good pools fished from the north side of the river. Additionally "The channel" above the suspension bridge can produce some good catches in low water.

The lodge where the rod normally is accommodated is just 50 yards from the river bank.

By the river you will find a fishing hut with benches and a table. Excellent place for your meals and barbeque.
