The long association between the Stjordal river system and British salmon anglers dates back to the late 1850`s when Sir Hide Parker first leased the fishing rights in Stjordal , including The Overkil Beat. Sir Henry Pottinger continued this tradition and much has been written about the especially superb fly fishing potential. One
of the greatest advantages fishing the Overkil water is the
possibilities to practise excellent fishing under different conditions
and water level. Due
to cold water during the first couple of weeks in June many choose
bringing their spinning gear . Spinning might be practised by some later
in the season. Flyfishing is definitely the method being preferred ,
though.
